Damas Internacionales
Reglas completas y guía estratégica
Resumen
International Draughts (also called Polish Draughts) is the most widely played variant of checkers in many countries. Played on a 10x10 board with 20 pieces per player, it features flying kings and mandatory maximum captures.
Objetivo
Capture all opponent's pieces or block them so they cannot move.
Preparación
Each player starts with 20 pieces on the dark squares of their first four rows (40 total pieces on the 10x10 board). White usually moves first.
Cómo jugar
- Men move diagonally forward one square to an empty dark square.
- Men capture by jumping diagonally over adjacent opponent pieces (forward or backward).
- Captures are mandatory - you must capture if able.
- The maximum capture rule applies: if multiple capture sequences exist, you must choose the one capturing the most pieces.
- Multiple jumps in one turn are allowed and required to maximize captures.
- When a man reaches the far row, it becomes a King.
- Kings are 'flying kings' - they can move any number of squares diagonally in any direction.
- Kings capture by flying over any enemy piece with empty squares beyond, landing on any square in that direction.
- Kings must continue capturing if additional captures are available after landing.
Ganar el juego
Win by capturing all opponent's pieces or by blocking all their pieces so they cannot move. Draws occur when neither side can win.
Consejos estratégicos
- *Flying kings are extremely powerful - getting kings early provides a significant advantage.
- *The maximum capture rule means planning several moves ahead is essential.
- *Control the center diagonals for mobility and tactical options.
- *Keep your pieces connected to protect them from captures.
- *In the endgame, king vs. king positions require careful technique.
- *Leave pieces protected when possible - isolated pieces are vulnerable.
Variantes
- Russian Draughts: Men can capture backward but cannot move backward. Kings fly.
- Brazilian Draughts: Same rules on an 8x8 board.
- Pool Checkers: 8x8 board with flying kings, popular in the United States.
