Επισκόπηση
Fox and Geese is an asymmetric strategy board game where one player controls the Fox and the other controls a flock of Geese. The game is played on a cross-shaped board with strategic points. It dates back to at least medieval Europe.
Στόχος
Fox wins by capturing enough geese to prevent being trapped. Geese win by trapping the fox so it cannot move.
Ρύθμιση
The cross-shaped board has 33 positions connected by lines. One player places the single Fox piece in the center. The other player places 13 (or 15) Geese filling one half of the board.
Πώς να παίξετε
- The Geese move first. Players alternate turns.
- Geese can only move forward or sideways (toward the fox's starting area), never backward.
- The Fox can move in any direction along the lines.
- Both Fox and Geese move to adjacent empty points along the lines.
- The Fox captures Geese by jumping over them (like in checkers) to an empty point beyond.
- The Fox can make multiple jumps in one turn if available.
- Geese cannot capture - they must trap the Fox through positioning.
- Geese should advance methodically while closing in on the Fox.
Κέρδος του παιχνιδιού
Geese win by surrounding the Fox so it has no legal moves. Fox wins by capturing enough Geese (usually reducing them to 4 or fewer) so trapping becomes impossible.
