Mål

Be the first player to reach the final square (100) exactly.

Oversigt

Snakes and Ladders is a classic children's race game based entirely on luck. Players roll dice and move along a board numbered 1-100. Landing on a ladder advances you; landing on a snake sends you backward. First to 100 wins.

Opsætning

The board shows squares numbered 1-100 in a winding path, with ladders connecting lower to higher squares and snakes descending from higher to lower squares. Each player has a token starting off the board.

Sådan spiller du

  1. Players take turns rolling a single die and moving that many squares.
  2. Everyone starts off the board; your first roll moves you onto squares 1-6 (no special roll is needed to start).
  3. Move along the numbered path in the direction of increasing numbers.
  4. If you land exactly on the bottom of a ladder, climb it to the top square.
  5. If you land exactly on the head of a snake, slide down to its tail square.
  6. You need the exact roll to land on square 100; if a roll would take you past 100, you stay where you are.
  7. Rolling a 6 grants an extra turn.
  8. Multiple players can occupy the same square.

At vinde spillet

First player to land exactly on square 100 wins. The game is entirely luck-based with no strategic decisions.

Strategitips

This game is pure luck - there are no strategic choices to make.
Enjoy the excitement of ladder climbs and snake descents.
The game teaches children counting and handling unexpected setbacks.
For faster games, use a larger starting bonus or start at square 1 without needing to roll in.
Different boards have different snake/ladder positions - some are easier than others.

Historie

Snakes and Ladders originated in ancient India as Moksha Patam, a game with moral and spiritual significance. Ladders represented virtues, snakes represented vices. The Victorian British transformed it into a children's game.
