Questions
Locate and sink all of your opponent's ships before they sink yours.
Each player has two 10x10 grids: one for their own ships, one to track shots against the opponent. Players secretly place their fleet: 1 Carrier (5 squares), 1 Battleship (4), 1 Cruiser (3), 1 Submarine (3), 1 Destroyer (2). Ships cannot overlap or touch.
Sink all five of your opponent's ships before yours are destroyed. Accurate tracking and logical deduction speed up your victory.
Players take turns calling out grid coordinates (e.g., 'B-7'). The opponent announces 'Hit' if a ship occupies that square, or 'Miss' if not. Mark your tracking grid with hits and misses to record your information.
Don't cluster your ships - spread them out to avoid giving up multiple ships to lucky shots. Avoid placing ships along edges early in play - it's a common beginner pattern. When you get a hit, focus adjacent squares to find the ship's orientation.
Naval Battle grew out of pencil-and-paper games played in the early 20th century, known as Salvo and Sea Battle, with fleets drawn on squared paper. It became one of the best-known two-player guessing games, played on paper, boards and screens.
