Players take turns rolling a single die and moving that many squares. Everyone starts off the board; your first roll moves you onto squares 1-6 (no special roll is needed to start). Move along the numbered path in the direction of increasing numbers.
This game is pure luck - there are no strategic choices to make. Enjoy the excitement of ladder climbs and snake descents. The game teaches children counting and handling unexpected setbacks.
Snakes and Ladders originated in ancient India as Moksha Patam, a game with moral and spiritual significance. Ladders represented virtues, snakes represented vices. The Victorian British transformed it into a children's game.
